The Main Uses Of Fulvic Acid Supplement

By Camille Nicholson

Fulvic acid supplement has been in use for many years. The first use was probably among farmers who used them to treat various diseases and medical conditions among their livestock. They were particularly useful in the treatment of mastitis in cows, respiratory infections in dogs and other diseases in pigs and poultry. Over time, it was realised that the acids also had benefits in humans.

The source of the supplements is deposits found on land or in large water bodies. They consist of decomposed organic plant and animal remains. The decomposition process is carried out by millions of bacterial organisms. Not the entire deposit has medical value and it is therefore necessary to take it through a process of extraction. This ensures that only the active ingredients are obtained. The process is tightly controlled so as to maintain the bioavailability of the final product.

The supplements are used for treatment of a number of diseases in humans. They have been established to have very potent antiviral properties. They prevent the attachment, fusion and entry of viral organisms into host cells. The effect of this is the interference with viral replication. Consequently the number of viruses released into the blood stream falls drastically and the infection resolves.

It has been shown that they are protective against damage by various radioactive substances. Their high affinity for elements such as plutonium and uranium, results in formation of complexes that are easily eliminated from the body. Failure to eliminate these substances may result in severe DNA damage. Metal deposits are also removed through formation of complexes.

They are effective antioxidants. They scavenge free radicals such as hydroxyl, superoxide and hydrogen oxide. These radicals are known causes of oxidative stress that could potentially damage the DNA. When paired with the acids, they become non-reactive and can be safely removed from the body. It is through a similar mechanism that toxins such as herbicides and pesticides are removed from the body by these supplements.

Acid-base homeostasis is another aspect that has been reported to greatly benefit from the use of these substances. The supplements ensure that there is neither excessive acidity nor alkalinity in the body. Acidic pH is associated with low oxygen concentrations. The result of this is increased growth and fermentation of fungal organisms. A more alkaline pH, in contrast, leads to higher oxygen concentrations and hinders the growth of anaerobic organisms.

Cells tend to experience better growth in presence of these substances. This has been attributed to a reduction in surface tension around cells that subsequently causes increased absorption of nutrients. There is, in addition, better cell respiration, metabolism and excretion. Another factor that contributes to better cell homeostasis is the ability of the nutrients to maintain a constant electrochemical balance between the cells and their immediate environment.

One should remember that it is not all the humus that has medicinal value; only those found in particular locations have been found to have potent ingredients. In general, the humus to be used for extraction of fulvic acid supplement must be selected carefully. It must be obtained from an unpolluted environment. It should also be free of ionising radiation. Extracts from freshwater have a high bioavailability and are easier to digest and absorb.
